Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has said that political interference has badly affected investigation and police system of province, but the present provincial government has taken effective steps to strengthen criminal justice system to ensure practical implementation of anti-terrorist law.
Due to drone attacks, the innocent people were being killed but no action had been taken to stop it. The nation must wake up and realize that the drone attacks would never stop until strong voice was raised collectively against it.
This he said while addressing a seminar at Peshawar regarding peace building through strengthening criminal justice system in conflict-affected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs, Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, representatives of UNDP, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ms. Sharmeela Rasool, Qazi Jamil. Country Director UNDP, Retired Inspector General of Police, Fayaz Khan Toru, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Director Generals Prosecution and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy and representatives of other concerned departments also attended the seminar.
Shaukat Ali Yousafzai said that terrorism would never end unless concrete steps were taken to eliminate it. He said that National Judicial Policy, criminal justice system and police should have basic role in this regard but due to political interference, the relevant policies and laws were not implemented practically.
Prosecution services, police and judiciary should play their proactive role for the stability of peace. The Minister said provincial government was committed to restore the peace and to provide justice to ordinary citizens. The government would leave no stone unturned to enhance transparency and accountability throughout the province.
