Peshawar: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is working for revitalizing provincial economy with special focus on job creating inclusive growth. This was stated by Additional Chief Secretary Government of KP, Owais Hammad Agha here on Thursday at a stakeholder consultative on workshop on economic growth strategy organised by Planning and Development dept.
Speaking on the occasion he said that the purpose of the workshop was to take the feedback of the private sector on the draft of Economic Growth Strategy being developed by the KP Govt.of revitalise the economy of the province. The multifarious growth challenges in KP could be best addressed with pro-poor and inclusive development which is private sector led and creates maximum jobs and government is there is to create an enabling environment, he added.
Explaining the key features of the draft growth strategy, Secretary Planning and Development Zafar Ali Shah said that this was the second round of consultation arranged by the government and briefed the participants about the main features of the growth strategy.
Provincial Government intends to give a final shape to this document in the light of stakeholder feedback so that it could be used to pursue the economic growth.
Ejaz Nabi, Country Director of International Growth Centre, steered the formulation of “Reinventing Growth and Prosperity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” and appreciated the government’s resolve to synergise the efforts for development and urged the ownership and implementation of the growth strategy which can transform KP’s economy.
The workshop was attended by representatives of NGOs, business community, academics and government officials DFID funded Sub-National Governance (SNG) programme of government of KP is providing technical assistance to Planning and Development department to finalize growth strategy document.
