Peshawar: According to a report issued by Zakat, Ushr, Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the reconstitution of the Provincial Zakat Council has been completed, rates of marriage assistance has been enhanced from Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 15,000/-, mechanism for assessment, collection and disbursement of ushr has been developed, amendments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zakat and Ushr Act 2011 are in process while a complaint cell has been establishment for the redressal of public complaints regarding the department.
The report further stated that the names of Chairmen Local Zakat Committees have been finalized in the meeting of Provincial Zakat Council, while Ist instalment of zakat funds under approved programmes have been released.
Accordingly an amount of Rs. 194,213,000 has been released from Provincial Zakat Fund to the PLAs of District Zakat Committees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for utilization as Ist instalment under five regular heads for the year 2013-14.
The Zakat and Ushr Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also released Rs. 13,750,000/- from provincial zakat fund to provincial level health institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The same amount would be utilized on treatment of Mustahqeen-e-Zakat, said the report issued by Zakat and Ushr Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
