Karachi: PIA, Police and SSGC won their respective matches on Wednesday in the ongoing NBP National Hockey Championship at the Johar Town Hockey Stadium in Lahore. In the first match of the day PIA overpowered Navy registering a 3-1 triumph. Ammad Butt scored the first goal in the very first minute of the match.
After trailing 0-1 down in the first half, Navy equalized the score-line early in the second half when Akbar Ali scored in the 37th minute. However, Mohammed Zubair restored the lead for PIA only a minute later and Inayatullah further took the match away from Navy after making it 3-1 in 51st minute.
Meanwhile, Police thrashed HEC registering a convincing 7-3 victory. Police opened their account through Abu Bakr in the 11th minute which was equalled by HEC’s Right-Out Adeel Zaman two minutes later. The match was drawn at 1-1 at interval.
Aamir gave lead to Police in the 39th minute and Awais doubled the lead in the 44th minute. Two minutes later Aamir Ali further consolidated his team’s position through a field goal. Awais struck again in the 48th and 64th minutes respectively and a 69th minute goal by Aamir Ali sealed the fate of the HEC, who struck two consolatory goals in the 53rd minute through Zeeshan and a 63rd minute goal on a penalty stroke by Ali Raza.
In the last match SSGC defeated Port Qasim Authority by 3-1. Olympian Shakeel Abbasi opened the account in the 6th minute on a penalty corner. Asif of Port Qasim equalled the score in the 22nd minute. Two minutes later Mubashir Ali’s goal enabled SSGC to restore lead. In the second half SSGC’s Yasir Shabbir scored the third goal in the 58th minute to win the match.
