OIC condemns Israel’s opening of tunnel south of AlAqsa Mosque

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the opening by the Israeli occupation authorities of the socalled "road of pilgrims" tunnel, which runs underneath the town of Silwan, south of Jerusalem's AlAqsa Mosque compound.

In a statement released Tuesday, the OIC considered that these actions, aimed at changing the historical and legal status of Jerusalem City, are in violation of international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.

The OIC emphasized that the occupied East Jerusalem the capital of the State of Palestine is part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967. It also stressed the need to preserve the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of the City and its cultural heritage, and to safeguard the sanctity of the holy places therein.
