Annual General Meeting of Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association held

Lahore, October 05, 2021 (PPI-OT): Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has assured to take up the demands of Chemical manufacturing industry with the Prime Minister Imran Khan. While addressing the Annual General Meeting of Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association (PCMA) the other day as Chief Guest at Governor House, he claimed himself to be a businessmen friendly governor and asked the business community to feel free for sharing problems to be faced by them in running their businesses.

The AGM was also addressed by Mr. Jahangir Piracha, newly elected Chairman, Mr. Haroon Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, Mr. Abdul Hai Usman Ghani, Vice Chairman, Syed Iqbal Kidwai, Secretary General and the outgoing Chairman of PCMA Mr. Zafar Mehmood.

Governor Punjab appreciated former chairman PCMA Zafar Mehmood and members of the PCMA for doing charity among the poor people. He urged the business community to come forward to share economic wellbeing of the suppressed classes of society. He disclosed that on his call a group of 10 people was doing a charity of over Rs. 1 billion. He said the business community is very important to the government also for sharing the unemployment problem of the country. He said, “I, in my personal capacity gives top priority to the problems of business community and assured to take up the case of Naphta Cracker Complex with PM for development of the Chemical Manufacturing industry.

Chairman PCMA Mr. Jahangir Piracha said that the heavy investment required for Naphtha Cracker project cannot be born neither by the government alone nor by the private sector. Foreign investment from Saudi Arabia, China and other friendly countries would be helpful in establishing the Naphtha Cracker Complex in Pakistan, he said adding that he would reopen the negotiations with the prospective investors of China and Saudi Arabia, who had expressed keen interest in this project during meeting with him as CEO Angro in the recent past.

Mr. Haroon Ali Khan, newly elected Senior Vice Chairman and Mr. Abdul Hai Usman Ghani, while taking over the charge of their offices in the PCMA woed to serve the chemical manufacturing community in the best of their capacities. Earlier Syed Iqbal Kidwai, Secretary General of PCMA informed that 10 candidates on the 10 vacant seats of Executive Committee of PCMA were elected unopposed for the year 2021-22, which include, Mr. Jahangir Piracha, Mr. Abdul Hai Usman Ghani, Mr. Humair Ijaz Ahmed, Mr. Jai Kumar, Mr. Moazzam Rasheed, Mr. Shahzad Mushtaq, Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad, Mr. Muhammad Ahmad, Mrs. Nabeela Intisar and Mrs. Saima Saleem.
