ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan, as a member of International Labour Organization (ILO) will continue to support important global priorities like combating social and economic inequality.

He was talking to South Korea’s candidate for Director General, International Labor Organization Ms Kang Kyung-wha who called on him here on Friday. The Foreign Minister said the COVID-19 pandemic adversely affected the employees, workers and employers globally and now a fair developmental financing and vaccine equity will help revive the global economy.

He expressed the hope that as an experienced female candidate from Asia Pacific region, Ms Kang Kyung-wha will be a strong and impressive candidate for ILO leadership. Kang Kyung-wha thanked Shah Mahmood Qureshi for his words of appreciation. Ms Kang Kyung-wha is a South Korean diplomat and politician who served as the first Foreign Minister of South Korea under President Moon Jae-in from 2017 to 2021.
