LCCI urges Govt. to take immediate measures

Lahore, October 14, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the government to take immediate measures to eradicate dengue. In a statement, the LCCI President Mian Nauman Kabir, Senior Vice President Mian Rehman Aziz Chan and Vice President Haris Ateeq said that the government should direct district administrators to ensure spray in all localities.

They said that local administrators should avoid raids/fines on business premises as it is nothing else but to create panic. “Spreading awareness on dengue virus is a must instead of focusing challans and raids that create panic among the public regarding the diseases.” They said that not only the government but all segments of society will have to play their role to eliminate this deadly virus.

They said that Punjab government should take all necessary measures for protection from dengue outbreak. They said that we have to change our social habits for elimination of dengue. The LCCI office-bearers said that effective participation of community in the ongoing campaign against dengue is essential, therefore awareness should be created for adopting preventive measures against dengue at local level.

They said that monitoring of ongoing campaign against dengue should be ensured and instructions should be issued to all concerned departments and institutions for protection from possible outbreak of dengue. The LCCI office-bearers said that district administrations, all over the province including Lahore, should be put on alert and directed to ensure that the water should not accumulate in low lying areas and arrangements be made for its immediate drainage. They said the Lahore Chamber is with the government and ready to play its due role in not only creating the much needed awareness about dengue virus but also make contributions for this social cause.

They said that re-eruption of this virus is being witnessed. They said that the deadly affects should be reduced by adopting right strategy. We all need to equip the members of civil society with measures to deal with the problem beforehand. We must use all means of communication for aggressively launching anti-dengue campaign.”

They said that it is not the lone responsibility of government to do everything. Every department, company and home has to come forward for controlling the outbreak of dengue virus. The LCCI office-bearers further stated that the government must make arrangements in far-off districts to tackle the virus effectively. The business community is fully committed to play its role and shun profiteering by providing preventive and curative medicines at affordable rates.

They said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry will extend every possible help to the government for elimination of deadly Dengue virus. They said that the LCCI feels its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to rise to every occasion when distressed people of this province need help and assistance.
