Political, social leaders near to resolve bloody dispute

LARKANA: A caravan of notables, political and social welfare leaders and activists visited disputing Kalhora and Mangnejo communities on Sunday in the riverine areas of Madeji and urged them to resolve their 12-year-old feud through jirga.

The caravan included Punhal Saryo, Dr Niaz Kalani, Shaista Baloch, Sardar Akhtar Khooharo, Ahmed Nawaz Narejo, Aqsa Khoso, Naurez Khan Jamali and others. They were received by elders of the communities with honour and respect. Both the communities agreed to resolve their dispute.

Zulfiqar Kalhoro however said that the caravan should first go to their Sardar Moazim Khan Abbasi and seek his consent. Ghazi Khan Mangnejo said that they were ready for ending tribal disputes. He requested them to fix a date for the jirga and inform him.

The participants said that tribal feuds are just like a cancer for Sindh which need to be wiped out through talks without loss of further time. They said they had come here to end the old dispute between Kalhora and Mangnejo communities which had so far claimed 14 innocent lives which include six from Mangnejo and eight from Kalhora side apart from injuring of many. They said schools in the disputed territories were closed for years due to which education of the children had been very badly affected and fertile lands had become arid.
