Punjab Government Allocates Rs500 Million for Civil Defence Upgrade


Lahore: The Punjab Home Department has announced the release of five hundred million rupees from the Internal Security Fund to enhance Civil Defence for national security. The substantial funding aims to bolster the capabilities of Civil Defence through the procurement of modern equipment.



According to Radio Pakistan, the funds were approved by the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and are designated for acquiring state-of-the-art equipment to strengthen Civil Defence operations. In addition to modernizing equipment, the department’s spokesperson disclosed an ambitious target to register one million volunteers, with training initiatives currently underway across the province to engage and educate the youth.



In recent efforts, over the past five days, Civil Defence and Rescue 1122 have engaged in training drills for more than 118,000 individuals. These drills have concentrated on crucial areas such as emergency evacuation, firefighting, and providing first aid in response to potential attacks or accidents.



Moreover, joint training exercises between Civil Defence and Rescue 1122 continue to take place, aimed at enhancing overall preparedness for national defence. These collaborative efforts are pivotal in ensuring the readiness and effectiveness of the teams in safeguarding the community.
