KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that multidimensional strategy was under way to make Karachi city neat, clean and beautiful.
He said that in addition to mobilize government resources, different communities have expressed their interest to participate in cleanliness drives of the government. He said that it was a good omen that reflects the people’s confidence in the PPP government.
This he said while presiding over a high level meeting regarding cleanliness of Karachi with community participation, held at chief Minister House.
Sindh minister for local government and health Syed Owais Muzaffar, Senator Mohammad Saleem Mandviwala, Secretary Local Government Ali Ahmed Lund, Administrator KMC Saqib Soomro and leaders of Bohri community attended the meeting.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah welcomed the offer of Bohri community to adopt some areas and to cooperate with government in its cleanliness drive in Karachi.
He said that Karachi is a big city of this region, accommodating different communities from all over Pakistan; that’s why it is called a “Mini-Pakistan”.
He said that government has planned a multidimensional strategy to make the city clean and beautiful.
He said that the government is mobilizing all available resources, along with raising awareness among masses.
He was optimistic that more communities residing in Karachi would join the hand of government in this noble cause of cleanliness and even maintaining peace and tranquillity of Karachi.
He directed the secretary local government and administrator KMC to prepare SOP with the consultation of the leaders of Bohri community and provide required resources at their disposal so that they could maintain the cleanliness at the areas adopted by them.
He also offered joint ventures with interested communities for establishing a plant for recycling municipal waste and generating electricity from it for the city.
Minister Syed Owais Muzaffar said that recently he had handed over 36 fumigation vehicles and 24 ambulances in two separates phases to the KMC and he was also getting 80 buses repaired to bring these on the road to facilitate the citizens.
