Japanese CG meets Governor, CM


QUETTA: Japanese Consul General based at Karachi Akira Ouchi held separate meetings with Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai and Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch here Wednesday.

At his meeting with Japanese CG Governor told that Japan and Pakistan have close friendly relations and there exists cooperation between them in various fields.

Japanese consul General told that JICA was extending financial cooperation to Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and management Sciences (BUITEMS).

Thanking them Governor hoped that Japan would continue to extend cooperation for the progress of Pakistan and Balochistan.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch told Akira Ouchi that Japan is key country in the region which has always supported us at every occasion. Admitting Japan’s active assistance Dr Malik Baloch hoped that it would provide meaningful cooperation for the promotion of education, technical education and health. He said Balochistan is backward than other provinces of Pakistan in the fields of education, technical education and health and it also faced shortage of human resource. He said Japanese government cooperation in these sectors would be welcomed so that quality education, health and human resources can be developed and people are given a prosperous life.

He said tenders have been called again for dredging of Pasni fish harbour with Japanese grant and results would be given by completing this project immediately.

He said provincial government has focused special attention on education. Japan should extend cooperation for providing scholarship for PhD for new universities while cooperation would also be welcomed for establishing new universities.

Dr Malik said government was taking steps for good governance while people would be provided relief by reviving institutions. He said resources are required for dams, roads, agriculture, livestock development and friendly countries can play important role in this regard.

He said Gwadar provides shortest route for China and Central Asian States and it is gateway for Central Asia.

Japanese consul General assured Chief Minister that Japan is keen for cooperation in education, health and fisheries in Balochistan.
