QUETTA: Parliamentarians stand by journalists where from treasury or opposition benches. Law and order situation is not good and Opposition and treasury have taken joint notice and there are no two opinions in this regards.
These views were expressed by Provincial Minister for information Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal while speaking to Journalists at the gate of provincial assembly who staged a demonstration Tuesday.
Taking notice of journalists leaving the Press Gallery, Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali asked Information Minister Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Aslam Bizenjo, Abdul Rehman Khetran, Mohtarma Dr Shama Ishaq to go to them and assured them their support.
We are supportive of freedom of expression in Pakistan and have rendered sacrifices in this regard. He said today constitution was being spoiled. He said after firing on the vehicle of Hamid Mir his driver sped his vehicle to Aga Khan Hospital and attackers chased him till there for 15 minutes. This shows that the attack was deliberate. He prayed may Allah give health to Hamid Mir. We all need peace. He said we stand by Hamid Mir and express sympathy with his family.
Abdul Rehman Khetran said protest is right. He said we condemn attack on Hamid Mir. He said there is no security to any one whether it is parliamentarian, journalists or common man everyone is faced with insecurity.
He said no charge should be labelled on any one. Commission has been constituted If any institution of its head was involved in the attack it would be known. He regretted that Fir of the incident has not yet been registered.
Dr Shama Ishaq said that it is very big incident. It is not attack on journalism only but attack on all.
They asked journalists to end their protest and resumed their work in the assembly.
Earlier President Balochistan Union of Journalists Irfan Saeed told them that every weak any journalist is attack or killed. Not only journalists he added but people are also faced with insecurity. Situation is very serious in Balochistan.
He said our today’s protest is against ht e murderous attack on Hamid Mir. We want political parties to join our voice in this connection.
