Merck launches export of medicines to African countries


QUETTA: Merck Pharmaceutical Company is bringing in new products. Company has started exports of its medicines to African Countries due to hectic efforts of our team. Merck remains Number one Company in Afghanistan.

This was stated by managing Director Merck Pharmaceutical Company Abdul Baqy Khan at “Meet the Media” programme here Tuesday.

He said our Quetta plant was producing good quality medicines and these would be exported to African markets besides there are being exported to Afghanistan and other countries.

He said Merck Pharmaceutical Company is one of the oldest companies in the world which is working in Quetta. It is also included in German Stock Exchange.

He said that Company has also started a campaign for quite long. It is in the name of “ Merck aur seht sath sath” which is being aired on FM 100. With this it is our objective to create awareness on prevention rather than using medicines in every case.

Baqy Khan said Merck committeemen to providing employment would continue.

He said today’s event was with regard to calendars sharing. He aid Merck Pakistan has been involved in developing its calendar utilizing the top artistic talent available in the country since 2003. The calendar 2003 was based on Pakistan’s leading artist Guljee’s vibrant colours whereas the calendar 2013 is based on folk music and its leading players of the country. Over the years we have also used the work of the young talent of Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, the fashion scenario of the country, the pencil drawings of Bashir Mirza, the miniature art depicting the splendid work of Haji Sharif, Shaikh Shujatullah and Bashir Ahmed Mirza, paintings of some top artists of the country like Sadaquain, Ustad Allahbux, Guljee, Ghaulam Rasool taken from the book The Big Picture Six Decades in Pakistan, the Lok Virsa Museum located in Islamabad. All these calendars were printed on the special 6 colour dual coater machines using the Pearl luster Pigment iriodin from Merck. These pigments imitate the effects of the natural pearls in the simplest way providing completely new possibilities for colour decoration in all possible aspects and articles of daily use.

He said during this period the company has also brought out calenderers especially in the year 2004 and 2012 on cloth which were highly appreciated by our customers all over the country as wall as all our business partners across the world.

Calendar 2014 depicts the map of Pakistan pays tribute to our rich heritage of highly skilled craftsman. Paying homage to flora, fauna and natural wonders are examples of Ajrak, embroideries of the Tharparkar desert, Gota work and women master pieces of Khes and Lungi. People of Northern Areas surrounded by majestic mountains weave and work with the cross stitch, beads, coins, shells, wool and yarn. The spontaneity of colour and pattern not only embellish their existence but form an integral part of their everyday life. Textiles are made for everyday use and also for festivals, rituals and dowries. For centuries these humble women and men have crated these wonders and continue to do so. The Indus river/Darya e Sindh flows from the high mountains to meet the Arabian Sea, nurturing the country through its journey.

Baqy Khan said through these calendars we apprise the world of Art and Culture of Pakistan. These are also seen at Pakistan Embassies, Consulates and other places. On this occasion participants were given calendars 2014.
