QUETTA: The society where sports fields are live hospitals are deserted there. There is no dearth of talent in Balochistan. There is need it should be brought in the front.
This was stated by President Balochistan Hockey Association Lashkari Raisani while chairing meeting of association here Sunday.
Secretary General BHA Amjad Satti, President Quetta district Haji Zulfiqar and other office bearers attended.
Lashkari Raisani said that hockey was ignored in the province and no steps were taken for its development. With the result this game declined at the national but also at the provincial level. He said hockey is our national game and steps would be taken to regain its status. He said funds provided for hockey grounds in Quetta and Sibi should be utilized judiciously. No lapse would be tolerated in this connection. He aid different tournaments would also be organized for promotion of game of hockey and provincial government cooperation would also be sought in this regard so that our new generation should utilize its ability for brighten name of the province and country instead of involving in any ill. He referred to famous hockey players Shakeel Abbasi and Zeeshan Ashraf who have also been captain of Pakistan team who brightened name of Pakistan. It is era of tensions and to remove it, it is necessary to promote hockey.
He assured the meeting prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief Ministers of Balochistan and Punjab would also be contacted.
Briefing BHA Lashkari Raisani, Secretary General said that measures were underway for the promotion of hockey in Quetta. These include reactivation of General Musa Hockey Stadium, and steps for providing water, electricity and other facilities. A proposal for organizing Hockey tournaments was under consideration.
Earlier Lashkari Raisani visited General Musa Hockey stadium. Secretary General apprised him of problems and difficulties about the ground.
