QUETTA: Provincial Elation Commissioner Balochistan Syed Sultan Bayazeed has said that directives have been issued for printing of 0.7 million ballot papers to be used by 3.2 million registered voters in the province during Local bodies polls.
Elections have been postponed in some areas of Awaran and Turbat where nomination papers could not be filed. Supplementary elections would be held in these areas after LB Polls on Dec 7.
In a special chat here Wednesday Provincial Election Commissioner said that final list of contestants would be issued today following scrutiny of nomination papers. He said 0.7 million ballot papers would be printed in Lahore and Karachi for Balochistan. He said we have demanded Rupees 500 million for transporting Polling Staff, DROs petrol expenses.
He said 50 thousand polling staff would be deployed for 650 polling stations which is a difficult process but it is being completed as a challenge. He said election symbols would also be issued for a Mayor, 4 municipal corporations and 28 municipalities.
He said in some areas of Awaran and Turbat nomination papers were not filed and election is impossible. Supplementary elections would be held after LB Polls on Dec 7. He aid announcement of success of candidates returned unopposed in Awaran and Turbat would also be made along with other candidates in the province.
It is added here that more than 21 thousand candidates were participating in LB Polls in Balochistan. They have launched their canvassing and visiting door to door to secure votes making tall promises. There is small number of serious candidates this time.
No hustle bustle is witnessed in interior of the province owing to law and order situation.
