QUETTA: National party has reservations at Local Bodies elections being held on Dec 7 on the orders of Supreme Court. But it would fully participate in these elections. We have apprised Supreme Court of our reservations but SC is of the view polls should be on Dec 7.
These views were expressed by Senior Vice President National Party Senator Hasil Khan Bizenjo at a Press conference here Monday.
He was flanked by Provincial health Minister and Central Labour Secretary National Party Rehmat Ali Baloch, Central Secretary Information and media Adviser to Balochistan Chief Minister Jan Muhammad Buledi and other party leaders.
He said Central committee of party met here today. It was attended among others by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, central leadership and members of Central Committee. Members discussed Supreme Court order which said for holding local bodies polls at every cost on Dec 7.
He said Party expressed reservations that law and order situation in Balochistan is not good. Earthquake has caused devastation in a district causing deaths. Winter has set in people have shifted to hot areas from several areas. He said situation is not conducive to hold local bodies elections. These polls should be held in March, April. If these are held now there will be no beautiful result.
He said eight petitions have been filed in Supreme Court from Balochistan while four filed form Khyber Pashtoonkhwa. He said to us holding local bodies polls at this time is not good. We have expressed our reservations. Still National Party has decided to fully participate in LB Polls. We have issued directives to all units to start preparations for these polls and file nomination papers. It would then be decided of making any alliance with any political party.
He said we are faced with dangers including insurgents But we have accepted SC order and taking part in elections. Since it is constitutional issue we would not take it to the assembly. He dispelled the impression that decision on holding local bodies polls in the province has been taken at a meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Secretary. This decision is of cabinet and its chief is Balochistan Chief Minister.
He said holding LB polls at this time ifs not desire of people of the province nor of National party but we have decided to obey SC order and take part in polls on Dec 7. Had these elections held in March April result would have been different. But result would not be beautiful, he added.
