Speakers constitutes committee to probe police misbehaviour


QUETTA: Speaker Balochistan Assembly Jan Muhammad Jamali constituted special House committee to probe which would probe misbehaviour of police with MPAs. When the House reassembled here Friday, MPA Ms Raheela Durrani told that MPAs were invited to Governor House during visit of Prime Minister for a meeting. When she reached at security post she was stopped by policemen deployed there. She told she was a MPA and was going to Governor House for a meeting. She also showed her MPA card to policemen. They said they do not accept this but a card issued form Special Branch.

She said after great difficulty she entered Governor House. She informed Provincial Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti of the incident but no action has yet been taken.

She said this has hurt privilege of MPAs and a appropriate action should be taken.

MPA Hendri Baloch said if cards issued to MPAs were of no use, these should be withdrawn. He said he was standing at the check post when Speaker Jan Jamali passed there and lifted him to Governor House.

MPA Mohtarma Husn Bano said for these apprehensions she did not come for the meeting. She said during VVIP movement roads are closed which cause serious problems particularly for patients.

MPA Masooma Hayat, Obedullah Babat, and Dr Hamid Achakzai also spoke. Hamid Achakzai said he was told that people form Lahore and Islamabad were issuing directives in the matter.

Speaker said he was witness to this misbehaviour. He said he would take up the matter with Chief Minister. He constituted a special committee headed by MPA Mohtarma Yasmeen Lehri. Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Ms Rahila Durrani, Hendri Baloch and Abdul Malik would be members. Committee would give its report within 15 days. In its findings, the concerned officers would be dealt accordingly.
