Security plan devised for Chehlum

Karachi: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Shahid Nadeem Baloch, has directed officials concerned to make effective security arrangements of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and ensure effective monitoring of the main procession and other congregations.

He said that report of every moment should be provided to central command & control room and media cell at central police office.

According to a release issued by Director Press Sindh Police on Sunday, IGP directed this after viewing a report regarding overall security arrangements for Chehlum.

He further directed police officers of all districts and divisional SSPs to properly brief all the officers and personnel regarding security arrangements and bound SHOs to remain present in their related areas so as to check the law-and-order situation frequently.

Meanwhile, Karachi police has divided security plan in different sectors under which every sector would be supervised by a SP rank officer, while every sector would be further divided in sub-sectors.

Police commandoes would also be deployed at rooftops of buildings located along the main procession route, while a close vigilance would be kept on the mourning procession proceeding from the watchtower located at the sides of Nishtar Park.

Under the security plan, SDPOs and SHOs have been given the responsibility to ensure implementation of all security directions. SHOs would deploy additional plan cloth personnel for advance intelligence collection and provide received intelligence to Central Police Officer, besides taking all possible steps for tackling any untoward situation.

The police officers would also remain in contact with different religious leaders, while DIG traffic Karachi would ensure deployment of officers and personnel for smooth flow of traffic.
