S. Sudan President, his rival Machar sign power-sharing deal

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and his rival Riek Machar have signed a final power-sharing deal, aimed at ending a civil war that has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions in the country.

The deal was signed in the presence of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and his counterparts from Kenya, Uganda and Djibouti, along with foreign diplomats.

Under the deal, the foes will have three months to form a transitional government which will then hold power for three years.
