Karachi: Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III) on Tuesday remanded two alleged extortionists, Anwar Khan and Sardar Azharuddin, to police custody till 16th December in money extortion case.
Police produced both accused before ATC-III Judge under tight security.
According to the prosecution, the accused had demanded Rs7000000 ‘protection money’ from one Mohammad Hatim Lotya, owner of a beauty salon in DHA area and extended him threats of killing his family in case of non-payment.
IO requested to court for further interrogation about the case, which the court accepted.
Police party had followed the extortionists and arrested them after an encounter.
The case was registered under Sections 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act (ATA) 1997 at the Darakhshan police station.
