KARACHI: Anti Terrorism Court-V on Friday sentenced two men to life imprisonment in a kidnapping for ransom case.
Altaf Hussain and Mohammad Haroon were found guilty of abducting Dr Khalid Mehmood Shaikh from Surjani Town on February 25, 2013 and demanding ransom of Rs2000000 for his safe release.
The judge of the anti-terrorism court-V pronounced the verdict after recording evidence of witnesses and final arguments from both sides.
ATC announced convicted both suspects to life imprisonment in kidnapping for ransom case. The court also handed them seven years imprisonment for illegal weapons.
The prosecution said that the matter was reported to police and suspects were arrested during a raid conducted by police within the remits of Surjani police station.
A case was registered under Section 365-A (kidnapping for extorting property, etc.) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act at the Surjani police station.
