CITY: (Private educational institutions restrained to enhance fee on security measures’ name)


ISLAMABAD: Taking notice on the media reports about enhancement of fee by the private educational institutions of the federal capital on the name of additional security measures in the wake of December 16 last year APS tragic incident, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development, Barrister Usman Ibrahim on Wednesday directed that no private educational institution should be allowed to enhance fee on the name of security measures.

He directed the Chairman (PEIRA) Omar Hameed that no private educational institutions should be allowed to enhance its fee charges and if any institution violates the direction, the authority should take action against the non-observing institution according to Section-16 of Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) act 2013.

The minister of State remarked that the security of students and premises was an integral pre condition of educational institutions, thus transference of additional financial burden on the students or their parents or guardians, in the name of security, was neither justified, nor allowed.

Following the ministry’s direction, the PEIRA chairman advised all private educational institutions according to Section-18 (2) of PEIRA act-2013, not to enhance their fee and in case of non-persuation the authority would be constrained to take action against them.
