SIALKOT: Police of Daska, have busted an inter-district gang of dacoits, arresting its nine dangerous members of including ring leader.
District Police Officer (DPO) Sialkot Dr. Shehzad Asif told the newsmen that the gang was named as Arif alias Arifu Oadh Gang, which was wanted by Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore, Gujrat, Kasur, Vehari, Sahiwal, Khanewal and Rawalpindi police in more than 104 cases of murder, murder during dacoity, kidnapping , d, robbery and other heinous natured cases.
DPO said that the accused had become a sign of terror in the above mentioned districts of Punjab.
He said that a team of police led by DSP Daska Engineer Rana Zahid Hussain busted this gang and arrested nine members Arif alias Arifu Oadh (ring leader) of Awan Town Lahore, Mohammad Akram (Ludan-Vehari), Mohammad Umer (Arifwala-Pakpattan), Azeem Sarwar (Bhagiyana-Kasur), Shaukat alias Chacha (Pattoki-Kasur), Sajjad Salamat (Sarai Mughal), Ashiq Nawaz (Basirpur-Okara)and driver Muhamamd Saleem (Chunian-Kasur).
DPO said that accused Arif alias Arifu Oadh had formed his gang of dacoits during his stay in a jail. This gang had permanently hired a Toyota Hiace Van (Peshawar K-7960) to use in all criminal activities. The driver of this van Mohammad Saleem was got engaged in further criminal activities by this gang upon his release from Kasur jail in other cases. He used to run his Toyota van on Root No.141 in Lahore, as the accused had been residing in a rented house in Karamat Colony Lahore.
DPO added that all the above-mentioned accused used to gather at Thokar Niaz Baig locality of Lahore and they used to go to commit the criminal activities in the said van.
The accused also travel in different passenger vans in the guise of the passengers in the various parts of North and Central Punjab and loot the passengers, besides and women in the houses at gun point, the DPO added.
DPO Dr. Shehzad Asif said that the police have also seized the said Toyota van (Peshawar K-7960), the dozens of the mobile phones, cash, and looted and snatched gold ornaments (worth lakhs of rupees) from the accused.
DPO disclosed that the police also recovered four illicit pump action guns, four pistols 30 bores, three iron rods, 1000 bullets of different kinds, two 7MM rifles, one chopper and 70 draggers from the accused.
DPO announced appreciation certificates and cash prizes for the raiding police party.
