District: (Over 2000 small surgical units lying closed due to 18 to 20 hours long gas load shedding in Sialkot region)


SIALKOT: Over 2000 small sized surgical hammering and forging units in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur and surrounding areas have been lying closed due to 18 to 20 hours long load shedding of gas in Sialkot region.

This nasty situation has crippled surgical industry of Sialkot, which has reached on the verge of collapse. This nasty situation has become unbearable for the Sialkot based surgical instruments manufactures, venders and exporters in Sialkot.

The perturbed Sialkot surgical exporters and manufacturers said that despite the repeated appeals made by them, the SNGPL has not yet given any relief to the them. They said that energy crisis was increasing day by day in Sialkot due to which the industrial wheel has become completely jammed.

Mohammad Jehangir Bajwa (former Chairman Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan-SIMAP) has expressed grave concern over this worst situation.

He demanded early exemption of Sialkot‘s surgical industry from gas and power outages following its global industrial and economical significance to save the Sialkot surgical industry from collapse.

He revealed that over 2000 of the small industrial surgical hammering and forging units in and around the Sialkot city had already been closed by the owners due to the non-availability of the gas. He said hundreds of thousands of the industrial workers have already been rendered jobless in such critical situation.
