IGP orders strict security on New Year eve

KARACHI: Spokesman of Sindh police said on Tuesday that citizens should avoid conducting aerial firing, playing fireworks, riding motorcycle without silencers on the occasion of New Year events, otherwise strict action would be taken against violators.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali has ordered tight security measures on the eve of New Year and said that police patrolling should be ensured at parks, sea sides, busy roads, shopping centers, fast food chains, departmental stores, recreational places and public places.

The tight security should also be ensured at private properties and sensitive installations.

He said policing plan should be made more effective through consultation with traders and civil society members in order to improve relations between police and the community.
