Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq called on President of Tajikistan Mr. Emomali Rahmoon on Tuesday.
According to the message received from Dushanbe, Tajikistan, both the leaders exchanged views on political, economic, trade, people to people contact as well as parliament to Parliament cooperation between both the countries.
They also expressed satisfaction on excellent bilateral relations and highlighted the need to further enhance these relations.
The Speaker said that regular exchange of high level visits between the two countries provides impetus to cordial relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
It was noted that recorded bilateral trade has reached US$ 93 million in 2013 which was not true reflection of trade potential between the two countries.
He also emphasized that interactions under the umbrella of Joint Ministerial Commission and Pakistan-Tajikistan Business Forum and exchange of business delegations should be regularized to further increase the trade between the two countries.
On this occasion, the issue of power shortage in Pakistan was also discussed. The President of Tajikistan said that his country has surplus electricity; therefore it will export electricity to Pakistan to overcome its energy requirements.
He said that CASA-1000 was a landmark project which will provide 1000 MW of electricity to Pakistan to mitigate its acute energy deficit.
Both the leaders also agreed for exchange of parliamentary delegations which would provide opportunity to either side for learning from each other’s experiences and exchange of views.
