Pakistan faces Canada in Youth Olympics quarters


Karachi: Following a 6-6 draw against New Zealand in their high scoring third outing, Pakistan confirmed their place in the quarterfinals of 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games hockey event in Nanjing, China.

According to information made available here on Thursday, the green shirts drew the match against New Zealand and ha now secure a place in the last-eight stage and they would now face up with Canada for a semifinal spot. The match will be played on August 23.

During the match against New Zealand on Thursday, Muhammad Atiq and Shan Irshad scored two goals each while Muhammad Junaid Kamal and Mubashir Ali scored one goal for Pakistan.

Pakistan had earlier defeated Germany and Zambia convincingly by 6-2 and 9-2 score-lines respectively.
