KARACHI: Anti-polio campaign has been restarted on Saturday in 11 sensitive Union Councils (UC) of Karachi which would be carried out for five days and 213710 children would be given polio drops.
This was decided in a meeting chaired by Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui to review anti-polio campaign. Representative of World Health Organisation, EDO Health Zafar Ejaz and SSP Ejaz Hashmi were also present on the occasion.
The meeting was informed that special steps were taken for the security of the campaign under which 1000 policemen were assigned the task. Door-to-door polio vaccination would be given.
The meeting was told that the number of people who refused in the previous campaign had drastically reduced along the absentees.
It was also told in the meeting that the polio drops were also provided previously in the areas where parents had reservation over polio drops in cooperation with religious leaders, Ulema and respectable people of the areas.
