KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Saeed Ghani on Saturday said that his party would strongly resist privatization of national institutions including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
Addressing PPP workers at Karachi Airport on the occasion of referendum in PIA, Saeed Ghani said that PPP would not allow anyone to sell sensitive national institutions to favorite people on nominal rates.
“Country has lost important national institutions due to privatization policy of government and now they were being operated by foreigners,” he said adding that these sensitive institutions were asset of the state and the government has no right to sell them.
He asked the government to resign if it could not run profitable institutions of past like PIA and Pakistan Steel.
The PPP senator appealed to vote for People’s Unity, union backed by his party in PIA, in the upcoming referendum and said that his party has served the labourers in the past and they would continue to do so again.
