Seven fall prey to Karachi violence


KARACHI: Seven people, including a policeman, were killed and three others injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Thursday. A police constable, Muhammad Pervaiz Abbasi, 55, son of Riaz Abbasi, was shot dead by unidentified persons near Pakistan Masjid in Ramswami, Ranchor Line, in jurisdiction of Eidgah police station. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.

A 10-day-old mutilated body of an unidentified man, aged 50, was found in Rehmanabad, Surjani Town. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy.

Two unidentified men, aged 30 and 35, were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 07. The bodies were shifted to ASH for postmortem examination.

Separately, two unknown men, aged 25 and 30, were shot dead by unidentified persons in Sachal Goth, Mosamiyat. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy.

A man, Faran Qureshi, 30, was killed and another, Imran, 35, injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in Jamshed Quarters area, Jamshed Town. The body and injured were shifted to Agha Khan University Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment respectively.

Two men, Khawar, 25, son of Muhammad Raza, and Sikandar Ali, 30, son of Hassan Ali, residents of Bori Wali Gali, Liaquatabad No 8, were injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in Liaquatabad Underpass. The injured were brought to ASH for treatment.
