Karachi: Thirteen more dengue viral fever cases were reported in Karachi on Monday, increasing the patients toll to 5046 in 2013, said Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh.
Dr Mullick said that a total of 5738 dengue fever cases have been reported in Sindh province since January 2013, out of which 5046 were detected in Karachi and 692 in rest of Sindh province. He said eight dengue cases were reported late from hospitals.
He said five new dengue viral fever cases were reported in Karachi (1 inpatient & four OPD cases) from 29 to 30th December 2013. No case was detected in rest of province.
He said a total of 32 dengue fever patients died across the province this year so far, out of which 26 in Karachi, three in Hyderabad and one each in Mirpurkhas, Thatta and Larkana.
He further informed that 608 cases were detected in Hyderabad, 38 in Mirpurkhas, 11 in Jamshoro, seven in Thatta, five in Sukkur, four in Shikarpur, three in Larkana, two each in Kambar, Sanghar, Dadu and Kashmore; and one each in Khairpur, Naushehro Feroze, Badin, Nawabshah, Tharparkar, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan and Umerkot since January 2013.
