Demand to exempt hospital from load shedding

LARKANA: Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMHC) administration has demanded to declare this big hospital of the area exempt from electricity load shedding.

The Medical Superintendent, Chandka Medical College Hospital, Sr. Safiullah Abbasi, in a letter has informed SEPCO Superintending Engineer, Larkana Circle, Nazir Ahmed Soomro, that this largest 1400-bed capacity Teaching Hospital of the upper Sindh has been facing prolonged electricity load shedding daily due to which all its diagnostic machinery, equipment & instruments has virtually come to standstill and operations are either postponed or OT list is not completed except emergency cases which indeed is against the interests of the patients.

The coming summer season will further aggravate the situation as almost all wards on the hospital are air-conditioned for the benefit of patients that arrive here from far flung & remote areas of 12 districts, parts of Balochistan & Punjab, the MS added.

Power outage schedule recently enforced from 10am onwards has badly affected the smooth working of this Hospital which may be reverted to old timings to ensure proper working of Hospital, he said.

Dr. Abbasi further said that hospitals world over are always exempted from scheduled or unscheduled power load shedding in the interest of patients. Nothing is outstanding against this hospital as its bills are being cleared monthly, if delivered within due date.

In view of above, MS requested that all five Blocks CMC Hospital may be put on single feeder to ensure uninterrupted power supply on priority basis and till then old load shedding schedule may be enforced, in the interest of patients, so that poor ailing patients should not suffer. Copies of this letter have been sent to Health Secretary, Commissioner & Deputy Commissioner, Larkana, for further action.
