SIALKOT: Principal Kh. Mohammad Safdar Medical College Sialkot Prof. Dr. Zafar Ali Chaudhary on Wednesday said that government was making all out sincere efforts to make the College ‘a center of excellence’.
He said the construction of the new building of this medical college has almost completed and functional. Besides, he said the college has been affiliated with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.
He stated this while talking to the newsmen here on Wednesday. Dr. Sahibzada Masud ul Syed and Dr. Zahid Ghani Dar were also present on this occasion.
He said now the college was imparting studies to the postgraduate students as well. The separate hostels’ buildings for male and female students have been constructed with the upgradation of the Trauma Center Sialkot with four-beds Intensive Care Unit (ICU), minor and general operation theaters with free facilities of ultrasound and x-ray for the patients, he added.
He said an advanced Pharmacy has also been established at this trauma center, where patients were getting free medicines round-the-clock. He said six beds ICU would also start functioning at the Children Ward of the college’s hospital with newly established ventilators.
He said a state-of-the-art pathology laboratory has also been established between Govt. Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot and Kh. Mohammad Safdar Medical College Sialkot (KMSMCS).
He said the strength of doctors, paramedical staff and nursing staff has been doubled, as the postgraduate medical students were also performing their duties at the emergency department of the hospital.
He said students of KMSMCS have got the top positions in the annual exams across the Punjab. He said Punjab government was spending Rs.3.5 billion on the upgradation of Govt. Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot from 500 beds to 1100 beds hospital for providing the advanced medical and health facilities to the local people at local level, under the direct supervision of Kh. Mohammad Safdar Medical College Sialkot.
He revealed that KMSMCS successfully organized three-day long 2nd annual international health conference namely Medicon 2015, in which more than 1500 doctors across Pakistan and abroad especially from USA, UK, Canada and Saudi Arabia participated.
