Flood fighting exercise


SIALKOT: The hundreds of the people, Rescue 1122 officials, the personnel of different government departments and NGOs, enthusiastically participated in a flood-fighting exercise held in River Chenab near Head Marala here Saturday. They gave necessary training to the people to avert the recurring flood threats and how to combat the flood.

The personnel of Rescue 1122 and health department provided the emergency relief help to mock flood victims during this flood exercise, proving that all the departments were alert and ready to combat any flood eventuality.

Meanwhile, the entire Sialkot district has been divided into 22 sectors to avert the recurring flood threats under a foolproof flood protection plan, besides, establishing as many as 33 flood relief centers in district’s four Sialkot, Daska and Sambrial tehsils.

During an important meeting held here the District Flood Relief Committee Sialkot reviewed in detail the flood preventive measures. The meeting was told that the district administration has already completed all the necessary preventive arrangements to save the district from the recurring flood threats.
