Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Arts Council arranged a session with international fame maestro Sitar Nawaz and winner of Pride of Performance Ustad Abdul Latif Khan here on Sunday.
Senator Najma Hameed and Member National Assembly Tahira Aurangzeb flanked by Naheed Manzoor and Resident Director Waqar Ahmed participated as guests of honour in the session.
Faryal Shabir and Naveed Mushtaq anchored the session. Ustad Abdul Latif Khan shared his personal life and tremendous career with huge gathering.
The session was followed by the fabulous performance of Ustad Abdul Latif Khan who presented Raag Pahari through the strings of sitar. Abdul Latif Khan also mesmerized the audience by presenting “Ae Watan k Sajeele Jawano, Mujh sey Pehli si mohabat mere mehboob na maang, Chan Mahya and Gulon me rang bhare baad-e-nao bahar chale”.
Ustad Abdul Latif Khan’s pupils performed on the occasion in which Faryal Shabir presented Sindhi folk while Umair Rauf and Waqas Sultan presented Raag Maigh. Addressing at the occasion, Naheed Manzoor said that performance of Ustad Abdul Latif is great honour for Rawalpindi Arts Council.
Tahira said that Ustad Abdul Latif played delicate tunes like his name and his art is matchless. Senator Najma said that Ustad Abdul Latif has become proud for Pakistan around the world. She said that Punjab as well as federal government is patronizing such kind of precious assets.
