Body formed to probe death of journalist

RATODERO: The Government of Sindh has constituted a high level inquiry body to probe into the death of journalist Shan Dahar who was injured during firing on the eve of New Year night at his hometown Badah and died in Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Larkana, on January 01.

The Journalists community and the heirs alleged that Dahar died due to the negligence of doctors as they did not carry out emergency operation to save his life.

The inquiry committee is headed by Dr. Syed Mansoor Abbas Rizvi, Special Secretary (Public Health), Health Department, Government of Sindh, Karachi as its Chairman, Dr. Muhammad Athar Khan, Deputy Secretary (PH), Health Department, member/convener and Dr. Afsar Bhutto, Associate Professor of Surgery, Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, as its second member.

The inquiry will be held on January 20 in the office of the CMCH Medical Superintendent at 10.00 am.

In this connection CMCH Medical Superintendent, Dr. Safiullah Abbasi, has issued a letter to eleven employees of the Hospital to appear before the inquiry committee along with relevant record.

These employees include RMO (Night) Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Gaad, Dr. Sajjad Jalbani (CMO), Dr. Safdar Abbasi (CMO), Dr Vikram Kumar (CMO), Dr. Ali Gohar Chandio (SMO), Dr. Waheed Ali Daryani, post-graduate student of Medical Unit-II, Dr. Ayaz Hussain Shahani (Cardiologist) and four paramedics.
