Abbottabad: District Administration in a another successful anti encroachment drive in Havelian has got vacated two kilometers area from more than 160 illegal occupants who had encroached government valuable land since long.
Anti encroachment drive which was started few days back reached to its climax on Friday when Havelian Tehsil Administration under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad Osama Warraich cleared the inner city roads.
AC Abbottabad while briefing newsmen here on Friday informed that as many as 160 buildings were demarcated as per the revenue record from DSP office to Railway station and were issued notices. They started the operation with the support of TMA Havelian and successfully evacuated the encroached road from 6 feet to 32 feet including some multi story buildings.
Osama appreciated the cooperation of general public, influential of the area as well as politicians in the drive and did not create any hindrance in its smooth completion. Osama told that local administration even did not spare the TMA cabins which were constructed over mullah. People of the area themselves removed the demarcated encroachments and successfully completed the IST phase of the anti encroachment drive at Havelian.
Osama who has earlier almost completed the anti encroachment drive at Karakorum Highway (KKH) in Abbottabad assured that remaining 10 % work will be completed in short span of time. He categorically made it clear that that local administration has not compromised with some influential over the widening of road from Sarban chowk to Sabzi Mandi, the busiest area where people have been facing continuous traffic problems and informed that they have already planned to complete remaining work. He told that Cantonment Board did not consult the local administration over new demarcation in some of the areas.
He informed that work on Muree road would be started shortly to remove encroachments. Replying to another query, Assistant Commissioner told that government buildings which come under the encroachments would be equally treated so that to widened the KKH from both side of the road. He claimed that they have tried their best to make the move across the board and without any liking or disliking.
