Firing on car of JUI-F leader


Larkana, Sindh: Unknown miscreants opened firing on the car of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader and former Senator Dr. Khalid Mahmood Soomro, near Brohi Laro in the limits of Mahotta police station but he remained safe.

After the incident, the JUI-F leader immediately informed police who arrived on the spot and started following the footprints of criminals which according to police crossed to riverside area from village Dodai. Police sources said that the footprints led to Village Nandha Phull in the limits of Akil police station. Police arrested three suspects.

Talking to media Dr. Soomro said that he was returning from Ratodero after attending a religious gathering along with his son & other persons in three cars when unknown men armed with sophisticated weapons intercepted them and opened firing. He said that they asked from my son about me and then started firing which hit my car. He said the accused fled when my security guards started returning fire.

However, soon after the incident a large number of angry JUI-F activists took to the streets on Tuesday morning in Larkana holding wooden sticks in their hands and forcing shopkeepers to close down their business. The agitating workers also held large protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh roundabout and chanted slogans demanding immediate arrest of the offenders involved in what they called attack on Dr. Soomro.

Later, Nasir Mahmood, son of Khalid Mahmood Soomro reached there and asked his workers to stop agitating. He also requested the shopkeepers to start their routine business activity due to which all shops were opened at about 1.00 pm.
