RATODERO: Prolonged electricity load shedding to tube-wells has badly affected various crops in several areas of Larkana district Due to prolonged electricity load shedding, standing and sown crops are the worst sufferers as the tube-wells remain off in several areas of Larkana district.
The crops are not receiving required water, which would result in low production and loss to the farmers and growers. The villagers of Chooharpur, Mahotta, Kehar and others complained that due to power outage, they are unable to water their fields where vegetables and wheat crops were sown.
“The crops are getting dry day by day. They said that in this season only Dadu Canal is flowing, while Rice Canal flow remains at its bottom.”
The farmers said, “Those lands which are irrigated through Dadu Canal are getting water and those linked to Rice Canal get water through tube-wells.
Poor peasants Irshad Ali, Ghanwhar Khan and Shamshad Ali Shahani told PPI that during the previous years, the government had managed to provide uninterrupted power supply through tube-wells but this government had completely ignored the major agriculture as a result, vegetables will become beyond the reach of poor populace in the near future. They further said that Guava orchids needed water. Due to darkness, theft cases have also increased manifold in the villages.
The 20-hour-long electricity load shedding is also being carried out with dare in Ratodero, Larkana, Naundero as present rulers have adopted lull over the issue and are playing role as silent spectators.
