Badin: Rafique Ahmed Jaffri, Vice Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Sindh Provincial Branch inaugurated Basic Health Unit (BHU) in rural area of District Badin on Sunday. The area was badly affected by last heavy rains and floods.
PRCS-Sindh Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem addressing on the occasion said that German Red Cross (GRC) is one of the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world, which has been co-operating with Pakistan Red Crescent Society for the last 25 years and providing assistance to the vulnerable people. PRCS with the support of GRC has started a long-term project providing basic primary health care (PHC) services and awareness on health risks to vulnerable communities by trained.
PRCS-Sindh Vice Chairman Jaffri said that the area was hit by floods in 2010-11 and struggling with donor fatigue and scant media coverage. He said flood survivors in Badin have been trying to return to a normal life.
The Basic Health Unit is located in that area where health services are limited and the local inhabitants have to travel far to receive basic medical care. The BHU is well equipped to serve male and female patients. The staff includes 2 doctors, 2 health educators, 1 LHV, 1 vaccinator, 1 dispenser, 1 pharmacy assistant, and one cleaner.
