Rawalpindi: Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) Inter-University level competitions of Tug of War, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Horticulture held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) here on Friday.
MNA, Malik Abrar Ahmad was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, he said “Sports are part of a nation’s image. The government is paying special attention to development of sports.
Speaking about the benefits of Punjab Youth Festival, he said that unique talent emerged through this festival. He said this is the vision of, Prime Minister, Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to provide opportunities to the youth so that they show their talent. Punjab Youth Festival will become a great source to turn the youth towards positive activities, he added.
He also urged the general public to take part in PYF’s healthy activities with full passion and avail the opportunities and sports facilities being provided by the government.
In this regard, he said, government is taking all necessary measures to provide good sports facilities to people as stadiums and gymnasiums were being established throughout the province. In the competitions, of Volleyball, Basketball, and Tug of war PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi team got first position.
In Tug of War (Female) Fatima Jinnah Women University got first position. In Badminton (girls) and Table Tennis (girls) Fatima Jinnah Women University team got First Position. In Badminton (Boys) & Table Tennis (boys) Engineering University Taxila team got first position. A large numbers of students and faculty members were also present on the occasion.
