50 killed, 120 injured in bomb explosion

QUETTA: Fifty persons including women and children were killed and more than 120 were injured in a big bomb explosion along Kirani raod on the outskirts of Metropolis Saturday. Condition of some of injured is stated to be serious.

According to deitlas a bomb planted in a vehicle exploded along Kirani road here this afternoon. As a result 50 persons including women and children died. More than 120 were also injured. Some of the injured were in serous condition. It may result in increase in dead toll.

When contacted, DIG Operations Wazir Khan Nassar told that he was unable to tell the exact number of those died in the explosion.

Several vehicles, rickshaws and several buildings and houses in the vicinity were damaged. Security forces and police reached the spot and cordoned the area after the explosion. All the inlets and outlets were closed. Clouds of smoke started rising after the explosion.

Angry people pelted stones in which several vehicles of police and bomb disposal squads were damaged. Angry people also opened fire after the explosions.

Security forces and law Enforcement agencies did not allow any one including media persons to go near the site of explosion for fear of to any possible terrorism.

It may be added here that on January 9 explosion at Alamdar road a suicide attack had taken place. When mediamen reached the spot another explosion took place in which several mediamen and Edhi volunteers were killed.
