Installation of biometric system at police offices soon

KARACHI: Sindh police department has decided to install biometric systems at all the police offices across the province in order to ensure attendance of officers and oust ghost employees.

This decision was taken during a meeting at the Central Police Office here on Tuesday, which was chaired by Inspector General of Police IGP Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari.

The IGP constituted a five-member committee comprising Director Information Technology Sindh Tabassum Abid, SSP Muhafiz Colonel retd Wahid, AIG Establishment, AIG Administration and AIG Tele.

The committee will present its report within 15 days about the installation of biometric system at units and central levels. The IGP directed the committee to install biometric system initially at all training institutes, police headquarters, Sindh Reserve Police SRP offices and Rapid Response Force offices and later it should be installed at police offices in second phase.

The IGP also constituted another committee led by DIG Establishment to compile the computerized data of all police officers and personnel in the province. He directed officials to formally introduce human resource software in this regard. IGP asked the officers to take possible steps for upgradation of computerized data of all employee of police department as the available manpower could effectively be used to combat crimes in Sindh.

The meeting was informed that lists of all employees of Muhafiz Force had already been compiled, while biometric system is also working successfully at the offices.

Meanwhile, over 230 police officers and personnel had got training of biometric system.

The IGP further said that ouster of ghost employees would be possible after preparation of computerized lists and installation of biometric system.
