Sports: Hockey: PHF to conduct U16 trials from today

Karachi: Pakistan Hockey Federation PHF will be conducting open trials to select U16 national hockey team from Friday.

The trials would begin from Peshawar, where it will be conducted on 15th and 16th February at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium for the province of KhyberPakhtunkhwa.

The selectors will then conduct trials in Karachi on 17th and 18th February at Hockey Club of Pakistan for the province of Sindh and Balochistan.

On the next two days, trials will be conducted at Lahore’s National Hockey Stadium for the players of Punjab.

Tahir Zaman PHF Consultant, Ajmal Khan Lodhi Coach Senior Hockey Team, Danish Kaleem Coach Junior Hockey Team, Rana Zaheer Ahmed Coach U16 Hockey Team and Rehan Butt Coach U16 Hockey Team will observe the trials.

PHF is selecting U16 players in order to establish U16 national squad for the upcoming 2nd U16 Boys Asia Cup, which will be held in Singapore from 4th to 7th April 2013. The tournament will also serve as a qualifier stage for next year’s Youth Olympic Games Boys Hockey Tournament to be held in Nanjing, China.

Players born on or after 1st January 1997 are directed to bring with them NADRA ‘B’ Form, original Union Council Birth Certificate and photocopies of CNIC of parents.
