Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 67% Pakistanis believe poverty in Pakistan has increased in the last year.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion, in the last one year, has poverty in Pakistan increased, decreased or has there been no change?” Responding to this, 67% said increased whereas 8% said decreased. 24% of the respondents said there has been no change and 1% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2542 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Mar 10, 2014 – Mar 17, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
