ISLAMABAD: A condolence meeting of the Pakistan community was held on Thursday at the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, which was attended by a large number of Pakistani expatriates from all walks of life.
Addressing the assembly, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, Asif Durrani articulated the profound sense of grief and shock being felt by the entire nation at the Peshawar carnage of December 16.
According to a press release, the ambassador said the barbaric act of killing innocent children will prove to be the last nail in the coffin of enemies who seek to destroy our spirits, defame our faith and impose their heinous agendas through savagery and intimidation.
He said the Pakistani nation will not be defeated. Even as we spoke the streets of Peshawar were lined with those volunteering to donate blood for the victims of the carnage.
He said this cowardly act of aggression will not go unheeded and unpunished. The entire Pakistani nation stood united in its resolve to combat the enemy and eradicate the menace of extremism.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the tragedy and their families”, he said. The Ambassador urged the Pakistani community in the UAE to remain steadfast at this difficult moment, adding that at this time of trial, we must persevere patiently and resolutely. The meeting concluded with fateha and dua for victims.
In memory of the departed, a candlelight vigil will be held at the Chancery from 1700 – 1800 hrs on Friday (today).
