Islamabad: The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has approved two hundred and twenty million dollars for Jamshoro coal power plant.
The approval was given at a meeting of board of executive directors of the bank in Jeddah.
The Asian Development Bank has already approved nine hundred million dollars for the project.
The project on completion will generate six hundred (600) megawatts electricity.
Meanwhile, the World Bank has agreed to provide five hundred and twenty million dollars for power supply to Pakistan and Afghanistan from Central Asia.
The Islamic Development Bank and USAID have pledged to bear the remaining expanses of the project.
Under the project, one thousand megawatt electricity will be supplied to Pakistan and three hundred MW to Afghanistan. One thousand two hundred and seventy kilometers long transmission line will be laid for this purpose.
The entire project will be completed at a cost of over one billion dollars.
