NA body on Railways meet

Islamabad : The 6th meeting of the Standing Committee on Railways held here Tuesday in the Parliament house under the chairmanship of Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA/Chairman.

The Committee discussed budgetary proposals of Ministry of Railways and its attached Departments relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the next financial year 2014-15 which were presented by the Ministry.

The Chairman showed his displeasure for including again the projects of low priority in the proposals. He emphasized that Pakistan Railways should focus on prioritizing their projects and directed to allocate funds in accordance with the actual amount to be provided for PSDP budget 2014-15.

He directed that only financially viable projects may be included in the PSDP proposals. He further asked the Ministry to utilize its own resources (like Railways lands, other assets, etc.) and private sector may be brought in with the best possible terms to increase its revenue.

Syed Naveed Qamar, Chairman of the Standing Committee directed the Ministry to provide a complete and consolidated Project report according to the allocated budget within one week, which would be submitted to the Committee.

Ch. Jaffar Iqbal, Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Rana Zahid Hussain Khan, Rai Mansab Ali Khan, Engr. Hamid-ul-Haq Khalil, Mr. Amjad Ali khan, Syed Asif Hasnain, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Mr. Ramesh Lal, Qari Muhammad Yousaf, Ms. Naseema Hafeez, MNAs attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the senior officers of the Ministry of Railways.
