Islamabad: The Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Mr. Sartaj Aziz received the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa on Wednesday.
Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa stated that the bonds of friendship between Bahrain and Pakistan were strong. He stressed the importance of translating the political goodwill that existed between the two brotherly countries into effective economic relations, with emphasis on trade and investment.
He emphasized that Bahrain was keen to further expand and diversify its relations with Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest.
The Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs welcomed the remarks of Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and highlighted key policies and priorities of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
The visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, he said, will usher in a new era of Pakistan-Bahrain relations.
The two Foreign Ministers reviewed the status of bilateral relations and exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interest.
They, while underscoring the importance of institutional mechanism for cooperation, welcomed the setting up of Joint Ministerial Commission and the revitalization of the bilateral political consultations between the two countries.
The two Foreign Ministers welcomed the establishment of Pakistan Energy Fund (PEF). Such a proposal would encourage investors from both the public and private sectors of GCC to invest in energy and other projects in Pakistan.
The two Foreign Ministers signed a MoU on Labour and Occupational Training. This is an important MoU since it will facilitate training of Pakistani manpower for employment in Bahrain.
The Bahraini Foreign Minister also deeply appreciated the role of Pakistani community in Bahrain and said there was scope for more Pakistani skilled manpower in Bahrain.
